Ever noticed your children or your dad so engrossed in watching a movie that he does not hear what you are trying to tell him? Ever noticed children being glued to the tube that even you cannot understand what’s with what they are watching that they cannot hear any words you say unless you use your booming voice?

Watching TV puts your family member into a state that provides easy access to the subconscious. This is something akin to sleep or a hypnotic state. What happens? When you watch the television, your brain activity switches from the left side of to the right side of your brain. The left side of the brain is responsible for logical thought and critical analysis while the right side of the brain does not critically analyze incoming content. Instead, it uses an emotional response, meaning there is little or no investigation of inbound messages.

Activities in the right brain induces the body to relinquish chemicals which makes us feel good. These chemicals are called endorphins. Endorphins are a natural sedative with properties analogous to heroin. Therefore, it is not only possible but probable, to become physically dependent to TV. This guarantees unfailing daily exposure, a vital factor needed to program the mind.

The television is a perfect equipment to program the brain. Unaware, your subconscious is being accessed. Why? You have no control over what is coming into your mind, somethings may be good, others bad. Are you watching scenes or situations that invokes a sense of fear within your subconscious influencing your actions and behavior? For example, you have recently watched a woman being followed at three in the morning by men and she was raped. In turn, you will be uncomfortable going out at that time of the wee hours of the morning. The fear invoked in you is entirely dependent on how the situation was presented in the television, but sure enough, you will be affected one way or another.

Your brain thinks what you see in television is real.

Do the shows in television make the general public feel incapacitated and inadequate? You see beautiful women in all their garb, luscious, clear, clean skin, flawless, slim. I’m sure you feel like you need to lose weight even if you are a petite fit.

Your brain thinks what you see in television is real. Expectedly, you would insist in saying that the tube does no harm because you know its not real. Why do then your heart beats faster when you are watching horror movies? It is because your subconscious believes it to be real.

During World War II, United States Army recognized the need to manufacture or train a soldier that is more willing to terminate. It was a need identified after reports came that many soldiers would intentionally fail or target low when shooting the adversary. Innately human, soldiers did not want to kill, and when they did they would feel loads of compunction.

To initiate changes on such behavior a method that was used among various tools was to let these soldiers watch hostile representations on the screen. Such activity was usually timed before going to war. It is an effort to desensitize the soldier to violence, thereby making them more willing to shoot down an individual.
