Meditate To Improve Your Memory
Body relaxation progresses your brain fitness. It is probably one of the best forms of exercise you can do for your brain. You can achieve body relaxation through sessions of meditation. It doesn’t take up too much time out of your day; just set aside about 20 minutes every day for meditation techniques.
Meditation not only helps your brain fitness, but it also increases your overall health. It reduces stress and creates a positive energy within you. Meditation techniques can also be used to deal with insomnia, depression and anxiety.
In order to have a successful meditating session, you need to isolate yourself. Find a spot in your home where you will not be interrupted for about 20 minutes or so. Make sure that you are able to sit comfortably and with your back straight. You can always add special details to your meditation spot like candles, music or incense. Whatever smells or noises make you feel relaxed; you can add those to this room.
It is human nature to be checking the time during moments of silence. Bring a timer and set it for at least 20 minutes, that way you know when your meditation session is over, and you are not distracted by checking your watch every few minutes.
In order to relax your body, you need to breath at a slow and steady pace. Really focus on your breathing. Don’t think about anything else except for your breathing. Your breathing should feel natural. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale.
As you’re sitting there trying to focus on your breathing, your mind will naturally start to wander. You’ll start thinking about work, the kids, laundry, etc. It is impossible for you to simply sit and breathe without these types of thoughts. So, as they come, try not to dive into them. Just set them aside and return to focusing on your breathing. It won’t be easy, but it’s a way of challenging your brain while maintain a state of relaxation. Don’t be hard on yourself if you find yourself becoming a slave to your thoughts. It’s normal. Always try and return to focusing on your breathing. Avoid listening to the voice inside your head that is encouraging you to stop the meditation. It’s placing all these thoughts into your head to try and distract you. Remember, just set those thoughts aside and concentrate on your breathing. Meditating is important to your brain fitness; it is a positive exercise, and those thoughts can wait.
Focusing on breathing is just one form of meditation. You can also focus on an object or recite a statement, whether it is a mantra or a prayer. Meditation will only work if you do it daily. Set aside at least 20 minutes each day to meditate in a quiet and comforting room. Make your kids, spouse, roommates and/or siblings aware of your mediation time. Make sure people understand not to disturb you during this quiet time. If you continue to meditate each day, it will not only strengthen your brain, but it will also reduce stress and relax your body.
